Bold Match Journal welcomes original pitches that help readers understand association football tactics and the patterns of a match. We value clear explanations rooted in a specific idea, not claims that one approach works in every situation.

What to pitch

Propose an article about a tactical concept, player role, team shape or phase of play. A strong idea has a focused question, a clear reader in mind and a useful explanation to offer. Pieces should make sense to general readers without relying on unexplained jargon.

What to include

Tell us the working title, central point, intended structure and why the subject deserves a closer look. Mention any sources or examples you would use, and distinguish facts from your own interpretation. Please pitch an original idea rather than sending a finished article without first discussing it.

How to send a pitch

Send proposals through the Contact page and choose the editorial question option. Include enough detail for us to assess the idea, but do not send confidential material or assume that a pitch has been accepted until we reply. We cannot promise publication.
